Blackberry Bold 9700

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone for AT&T includes built-in support for both AT&T's fast 3G. The Bold 9700 offers fast data delivery and an enhanced Web-browsing experience that lets you connect quickly to social networking sites for instance Facebook and MySpace. And, of course, you'll enjoy all the communication and connectivity features you've come to wait for from a BlackBerry phone--including email served by the BlackBerry Internet Service, and a full menu of messaging options (SMS, MMS, and IM). let's get furious with the review.

Size and weight:
The Bold 9700 is considerably smaller than the original. It measures just 4.3 by 2.4 by .6 inches, and weight is only 4.30 ounces / 122 grams(including battery),3.17 ounces / 90 grams(without battery). Height:4.29 inches (109 mm),Width:2.36 inches (60 mm),Depth:.56 inches (14.1 mm), Dimensions 109 x 60 x 14 mm.

Network and connectivity:
From the BlackBerry Bold 9700 you’ll find all the connectivity you wait for. You get HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It must bring in good network support. It’s supportive of 3G (HSDPA) compatible 3.6 Mbps, UMTS: 2100/1900/850/800 MHz (Bands 1,2,5/6), 2100/1700/900 MHz (Bands 1,4,8); GSM: 1900/1800/900/850/MHz; EDGE networks; HSDPA networks, WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, UMA, WMM, WMM Power Save, Wi-Fi Protected Setup, Quad-band GSM phone for good global voice connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz bands), GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots) 32 - 48 kbps, EDGE Class 10, 236.8 kbps,Wireless Networks, Bluetooth 2.0. Fast 3G connectivity via AT&T's HSDPA/UMTS network as well as compatibility with foreign 3G networks while roaming (850/1900/2100 MHz bands); 3.6/7.2 Mbps speeds with network availability). The dual-band 850/1900 MHz 3G network provides up to 3.6/7.2 Mbps of download speed, making it promising to enjoy a diversity of feature-rich wireless multimedia services, and it gives you the improvement of offering instantaneous voice and data services.

Memory and Display:
Blackberry Bold 9700 packs a vertical storage capacity as the handset is capable of storing lots of data. Memory expansion via microSD card slot with support for optional cards up to 32 GB. A 2 GB card is integrated with the phone, and it also has an inner 256 MB memory & 256 MB RAM, that can store mostly unlimited entries of call records and phone book. The size of the screen is 2.44 inches, and it is a TFT touch screen that displays 65,000 colors and a resolution of 480 x 360 pixels. It also has full QWERTY keyboard & touch-sensitive optical track pad.

Camera and Video:
The 3.2-megapixel camera on the Bold 9700 is a outstanding improvement from the 2-megapixel shooter found on the original Bold. It might not reach the domed 5- or 8-megapixel levels, but we feel that 3.2 is as much as necessary. The snapshots it captured were extraordinarily clear and colorful. You get an autofocus, image Stabilization, flash, 2X digital zoom too, which is a nice touch -- except you're trying to capture a moving subject. It gives you an image that is immense for sharing and using online and is better than many other phones in the 3MP range. Video, captured as 3GP is constrained to 480 x 352 pixels, video camera recording normal mode (480 x 352 pixel), MMS mode (176 x 144 pixel). So it can't battle with other devices, except in offering solid 30fps capture, so performance isn't too bad.

Entertainment Features:
BlackBerry Media Sync is built right into your BlackBerry Desktop Software and lets you sync your desktop iTunes or Windows Media Player music files with your BlackBerry smartphone. If you're a Mac user, just choose the "media" option and you're ready to sync your iTunes music collection from your BlackBerry smartphone onto your Mac. The included media player is not exceptional, but it's perfectly serviceable -- and that's not a bad thing. It's easy to use as a way of organizing and playing back audio and video files. Music quality was very good, and videos looked gorgeous on the 9700's sharp display. The AT&T version of the Bold 9700 comes with some multimedia extras that the T-Mobile version lacks, such as support for AT&T's mobile music service. The built in music player is capable of playing different files such as MP3, WMA9 (.wma/.asf), WMA9 Pro/WMA 10, MIDI, AMR-NB, Professional AAC/AAC+/eAAC+. And the video playback is capable of playing DivX 4, DivX 5/6 partially supported, XviD partially supported, H.263, H.264, WMV3. This is available in Black color.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 feels like the last step in an evolution of devices.
With so many existing and upcoming BlackBerry device models that look similar (yet different), it's becoming a bit confusing to differentiate at a glance between models.
