LG has been comparatively quiet on the Android market. We have already reviewed its first device with Google's mobile OS, the GW620, and were left with rather mixed feelings. The LG Optimus GT540 is the second smartphone with the stage by the manufacturer, and it comes in a quite futuristic form, kind of reminding us of the Batmobile. However, functionality and experience quality often come first in the users' wish lists. Get ready to see if the Optimus GT540 will ultimately rise victorious like a true Optimus Prime, or will ultimately fall in the battle for the love of customers.
Size and Weight :
LG Optimus GT540 has slim figure with 3inch screen. Its dimensions & weight is 109 x 54.5 x 12.7 mm & 115.5 g.
Network and connectivity:
LG Optimus GT540 supports GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots), 32 - 48 kbps; EDGE Class 10, 236.8 kbps; 3G HSDPA 7.2 Mbps; WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g; Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP; USB (microUSB).
Memory and Display:
LG is really walking a knife edge with these resistive touch screens it places in its smartphones. The 3" panel in the GT540 is definitely one of the better resistive screens we have used, but the experience can by no means be compared to that of the increasingly popular capacitive displays. Anyway, at least the image quality is very good, not only because of the utilized HVGA resolution, which works great on that screen size, but also thanks to the very rich and saturated colors. We even wondered if it is not AMOLED at one point, but once we looked at it from an angle, we realized we were dreaming. It has internal storage capacity of 130 MB. External Card slot microSD & it can expand up to 32GB.
Camera and Video:
The phone’s 3MP camera supports geo-tagging, auto face-tagging and face-to-action technology to allow users to create and share multimedia content from the phone. The LG Optimus has a included video editor with storyboard function so that users can add music and text to videos directly on the phone.
Entertainment Features :
Amazingly, the LG Optimus GT540 is a rational multimedia smartphone. It boasts a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, has DivX and Xvid file support and a 3D image and video viewer makes it cool — and quite practical — for browsing through your media collection, especially if you have a large library. We were pleasantly surprised at how smooth the scrolling was. The LG Optimus uses the standard Android music player but there is a wealth of customisable music player applications downloadable from the Android Market.
The LG Optimus (LG GT540) is a smart preference for the first-time smartphone users with access to the exciting world of Android apps without compromising on style as the handset boasts a distinctive design that is both sleek and soft and is available in black and silver.
