Acer beTouch E110

Acer has well and truly thrown its hat into the smartphone ring, with a slew of Android phones announced Monday. The most affordable is the BeTouch E110, which is designed to offer Web-connected smartphone-style features to the masses. Unfortunately, it has one glaring omission: Wi-Fi.

Size and weight:
Weighted at 105 grams Acer E110 physically measures 103.5 x 54 x 13.4 mm.

Network and connectivity:
The Acer E110 works on 2G GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 and 3G HSDPA 850, 1900, 2100 as well as HSDPA 900, 1900, 2100 networks. The Acer E110 comes with EDGE Class 10, 236.8 kbps and GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots), 32 - 48 kbp technologies that gives high speed data transfer rates. The inbuilt Bluetooth Yes, v2.0 with A2DP and miniUSB connection allows the user to transfer data to another devices wirelessly. The neoTouch P300 is ready to open your world to the endless possibilities of real mobile internet. With 3G+ & WIFI connectivity, you can browse your favourite information websites, update your social networks and have fun online whenever you feel like it. It comes with Internet Explorer 6 Mobile with Flash support, making it easier than ever to enjoy high quality browsing and media viewing as well as taking care of your life and your business from just about anywhere you go.

Memory and Display:
The Acer E110 comes complete with 256 MB RAM, 256 MB ROM internal memory that is expandable with the microSd card slot option. The phonebook can store unlimited entries and fields, Photocall in the phone and it can also store unlimited call details. The E110 is sported with 2.8-inch resistive touch screen of QVGA 240*320 resolution that can display up to 256k (65K effective) colors. In addition there is also a circular D-pad.

Camera and Video:
The Acer E110 is equipped with 3.15 megapixel camera that comes with 2048x1536 pixels resolution that is able to capture still as well as moving video footages. Its shots are of a reasonable quality, but the blurry screen won't do them any justice. Additionally, the camera software is sluggish, and changing settings takes a long time -- probably longer than your friends are willing to hold a cheery pose. Similar problems abound when shooting video footage.

Entertainment Features:
Acer E110 gives good sound quality as it with no doubts comes complete with a pair of speakerphone. The handset is also equipped with alert type features like vibration, downloadable polyphonic, MP3 and WAV ringtones as well as MP4, WMV, H.264, H.263 player. To keep the user entertained, the Acer E110 come preloaded with MP3 and MP4 players that very well supports numerous music formats. Its Nemo Player that is also embedded in the handset is a great way to enjoy music, video clips and pictures on the move. The phone does have a stereo FM radio as well. The media player supports MP4/WMV/H.264/H.263 & MP3/WAV/WMA/eAAC+ formats. Acer beTouch E110 is also added social networking support to attract young customers. UrFooz allows you to create profiles with the virtual avatars, share your activity in the connected social networking sites. Twidroid and Facebook come pre-installed to make social networking easier. This economic handset has one omission, WiFi. The Acer E110 comes preloaded with games that would keep it's users entertained. The UI is simple and intuitive. Creating messages are lot easier with the help of TouchPal virtual keyboards. There are three types of onscreen keyboards: full QWERTY, alphanumeric and half QWERTY keyboards. You can access android market for downloading games, themes, wallpapers, and software updates.

The Acer beTouch E110 isn't very stylish and its low-resolution screen is disappointing, as is its inability to access the Android Market. As it stands, there's nothing too smart about this budget smart phone.
