O2 Ice

The Ice, exclusive to O2 is, as you may have gathered, white. In fact, I’d describe the colour as pure brilliant white like the paint. It is tall and thin, and I have to say, rather elegant in design. The phone tapers at both the top and bottom edges, which makes a nice change from blockier handset designs and permits a couple of curves to creep in. When you add in the unusual rounded shaping of the number pad buttons, the call and end keys and the soft menu keys and the net result is a distinctive and not unpleasant handset.

Size and weight:
It's a very slim phone, at just 14mm, and elegant, with an ice white colour scheme. The keypad is well laid out, with small but nicely raised keys and a 5-way navigation key and is easy to use.

Network and connectivity:
The networking feature of this phone are 2G Network (GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900), 3G Network (UMTS 2100). And the connectivity features are GPRS (Class 10, 32 - 48 kbps), 3G (384 kbps), Bluetooth, USB.

Memory and Display:
It has the internal memory of 32 MB & the Card slot microSD. The Atom's display is a 2” TFT with a top resolution of 176 x 220 pixels. The display can show 265K colors.

Camera and Video:
The O2 Ice supports video calling with a front-mounted video camera. There's a second rear-mounted camera for taking still images. This is a 1.3 megapixel camera and gives acceptable results, but is by no means the best camera on a mobile phone. The camera resolution is 1280x1024 pixels.

Entertainment Features:
The built in music player plays the most popular music formats including MP3 files which allows the user to play their favourite tunes where ever they go. The music player feature provides the user with a high quality sound which lets the user hear their tunes over the built in speaker system. The phone can play ringtones in polyphonic sound & MP3 sound. The user can change their ringtones & download ringtones to suit their taste. The user can enjoy playing fast moving games on their 3G mobile phone & can download games to suit their choice of games. The phone comes with useful day to day feature which include a detailed phone book facility, calendar, calculator, clock with alarm & notes facility. The O2 Ice comes with a built in handsfree speaker which allows the user to have a call over the phones speakers & with a voice recording feature which allows the user to save voice messaging or reminders. It is one of the little let-downs of this handset that the headset connects to the phone via a 2.5mm jack. O2 has come close to offering owners the opportunity to use their own headset with the phone, but stepped back from the brink at the last minute. Yes, you could use a 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter plug, but this is an unwieldy solution and with the headphone socket located on the left edge of the Ice, one that is very awkward for the pocket. The O2 Ice comes with MMS multimedia messaging which allows the user to send photos or video footage via the MMS service to any MMS compatible contact. The email service is accessible from the messaging menu & allows the user to create & send emails from their mobile handset.

The O2 Ice Mobile has a sharp look together an impressive array of services and functionality, with many expecting the handset to sell well.
