The phone provides consumers with an expanded range of product to make an educated green choice without compromising on design and functionality. The Sony Ericsson Hazel offers consumers a green choice without compromising on features or fun. The phone offers an easy-to-use social networking experience featuring the Widget Manager application, which allows users access to their social networking page via the stand-by screen and quickly switch between different social networks.
Size and Weight :
The design of the Hazel is smooth with a curved effect, which gives the result of the phone curving round from earpiece to microphone to fit the contours of your face when the phone is opened. Measuring in at 102 x 49 x 16mm, the Hazel weighs 120g, which is the upper range of an acceptable weight for a modern mobile device.
Network and connectivity:
The new Sony Ericsson Hazel supports 2G Network (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900), 3G Network (HSDPA 900 / 2100), HSDPA 2100. The connectivity feature of this mobile are GPRS (Class 10, 32 - 48 kbps), EDGE (Class 10, 236.8 kbps), WLAN Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g, DLNA), Bluetooth (v2.1 with A2DP), USB USB v2.0.
Camera and Video:
The Sony Ericsson Hazel is equipped with a 5 megapixel camera, which is capable of taking pictures at a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. The camera has plenty of features to offer that include flash, autofocus, face detection, smile shutter, macro mode, white balance, spot metering, Geotagging, auto rotating, and effects. The image quality is at its best from one can expect from 5MP camera. The photos have plenty of colors, with sufficient brightness and sharpness. There is a front facing camera to assist video calling. You can also record video on this phone and we have to admit it does decent job. It can shoot VGA video at 30 fps. Flash also works in the video mode too. On the whole the video quality is quite good.
Memory and Display:
Internal memory on the phone is set at 319MB, whilst the memory can be expanded with memory cards up to 16GB in size. It is good to see Sony Ericsson slowly moving their devices over to the more popular MicroSD cards, too. MicroSD cards tend to be cheaper than the M2 cards they used in the past, and should mean it is easier to transfer content from one device to another. The device has a moderately sized screen, measuring 2.6 inches across, with a resolution of 240 x 320. The TFT Touchscreen display supports up to 16 million colours, and the screen is covered by a scratch resistant surface, which helps avoid minor scratches.
Entertainment Features:
The music player in the Hazel is the new Walkman version. The multimedia player supports plenty of audio files such as WAV, MP3, M4A, eAAC+, WMA and etc. Stereo widening and Megabass equalizer preset are also onboard. Autorotation is also possible in the player and it can be run in back ground. It also offers various background themes. We missed a 3.5mm audio jack port on this, so you won’t be able to use your favorite headphones unless you get adapter. There is no shake control. The music player is also features SenseMe that automatically generates the playlists depending upon your mood and TrackID that filters the songs based on the Album, Artist or Genre. The audio quality is excellent with crisp sound and proper bass. The Hazel is comes with a Media centre where it brings all your photos, videos, movies and music at one place. FM Radio with 20 stations and RDS support is also onboard. The video player interface is simple and convenient to operate. It allows fast-forwarding and fast-rewinding. There is no XviD and DivX support. MediaGo desktop software transfers any video from a computer to phone in compatible format and appropriate format. It also has dedicated Youtube app. The image gallery is same as that of other Sony Ericsson phones and fairly attractive. It is nicely integrated with Geotagging.
In total, the Sony Ericsson Hazel is a top class, high feature product, that shows once and for all that eco friendly can also be hi-tec.
