LG GD880 Mini

The GD880 has quite a small bezel surrounding the 3.2" 854 x 480 pixel touchscreen display, and there are no buttons on the front either, which LG says minimises the space that the Mini takes up.

Specs:The LG GD880 Mini, a new phone that accentuates its trend-setting design with a full complement of intelligent features.

It's the smallest and slimmest 3.2-inch full touchscreen phone on the market today, making it the perfect handset for people who want all the communication features that today’s technology has to offer without the bulk and heft of a traditional fully-loaded handset.

Developed in response to specific requests from actual consumers who were unhappy with current full touchscreen phones that are too bulky, too clunky and too expensive. The easily pocketable LG Mini delivers great looks at a reasonable price, along with the trendy features that people want.

Thanks to a slim, compact form factor made from the highest quality materials, it slides easily slides in a shirt pocket or small handbag while still feeling reassuringly solid to the touch. Textured metal accents on the sides of the handset add to the phone’s eye-catching looks without detracting from its overall simplicity. On the front, a large 3.2 inch touchscreen with an aspect ration of 16:9 extends all the way to the edge of the phone, giving it a finish that is as smooth as ice. In addition, a button-free face keeps the look simple and sleek.

It has much more than just great looks. Besides a raft of staple features such as speedy web browsing and fast push email, the LG Mini also includes several unique aspects, including Social Network Connect, which makes keeping in touch with online friends even easier than on a desktop PC. Popular social networks such as Facebook and Twitter are instantly accessible through built-in applications and a Social Network Feed provides instant and automatic updates of friends and family members on the home screen. Updates also appear next to each contact in the Social Address Book.

What’s more, it boasts a 5.0 megapixel camera featuring advanced face detection which allows uploading of sharp, vivid pictures and videos wirelessly to multiple social networks in one simple step. The device also plays music and movies in several popular file formats and even includes an FM radio.

With HSDPA connectivity at 7.2 Mbps and Wi-Fi, you can browse the internet at high speed and also provide real-time location information using A-GPS.

Specification

  • GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • HSDPA 900 / 2100
  • 102 x 47.6 x 10.6 mm
  • 99g
  • 3.2" TFT touchscreen, 256K colours
  • Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate
  • Scratch-resistant glass surface
  • 3.5 mm audio jack
  • 100 Mb internal memory
  • microSD (TransFlash) up to 32GB
  • GPRS
  • EDGE
  • 3G
  • WiFi
  • Bluetooth
  • 5 MP, 2592 x 1944 pixels, autofocus
  • Geo-tagging, face detection, image stabilisation
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS
  • Social networking integration with live updates
  • MP4/H.264/H.263 player
  • MP3/WMA/eAAC+ player
  • Document viewer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF)

Perhaps inevitably, the LG GD880 comes with a suite of social networking applications that LG say are even easier to use than a pc. There's no word on what operating system the GD880 runs, so we guess that it is LG's own proprietary one.

DISADVANTAGES

Inconsistent interface; small 3-inch WQVGA screen; poor battery life; stylus required for accurate tapping; no dedicated audio port.

Overall the LG GM730 is a great phone. They failed a little on the came

ra spec (8mp would have been great), but otherwise it is well spec’d, with a great user interface that is easy to use, and high speed internet connection..
